Perimenopause is more than physical symptoms

Perimenopause is SO much more than a physical transition.

It’s an emotional one.

And I don’t just mean mood swings.

It’s the beginning of an identity shift.

When ‘who I am’ becomes ‘who even am I anymore?’

Often the early signs of the transition can show up as anxiety, low mood, trigger happy temper, intolerance of noise, heat, even people.

It’s like our sensitivity has been turned up a notch.

And part of what can really help is giving ourselves time and space (and structure) to work this out.

It’s why we can be drawn to going on retreats, reading self-help books, and listening to podcasts that have all the answers.

HRT and supplements can help with some of this - by turning down the volume on the physical symptoms. By creating more balance and bandwidth in the system.

Regulating our nervous system and getting sleep, rest, nutrition and movement right can be enormously helpful too.

AND we also need to give ourselves space and grace.

I call it the caterpillar soup stage of menopause.

When really we would like to cocoon ourselves away for a while and work out what’s going on physically, emotionally, spiritually without interuption and responsibilities.

If you’d like a little taste of this, why not book in for one of my wellbeing re-set calls this summer.

90 minutes to focus on you, to explore your current point in the menopause maelstrom, and create the space to make a plan for the next steps of life.

The cost is £250, with 90 minutes of focussed time on you and a personalised follow up plan to take with you into the summer. Book it in for August, or book now for early September when you’re full of back to school energy.
