Midsummer reflections
What’s going well?
This is such an important question.
Our brains tend to be wired to the negative. To seek out threat, and make us safe.
And when the fog of hormone change hits, or the fear of ageing, or the constant stress of midlife challenges prove hard to manage, it’s even easier to feel negative.
Which is why the positive questions are so important. “What’s gone well?” is always the first question I’ll ask my clients in a session. It means their brain seeks the positive first, and it feels good.
As I write this we have just passed the midsummer solstice (21 June).
With midsummer we have passed the midpoint of the solar year, and the midpoint of the calendar year next week
It’s a chance to review, reflect, and rediscover. And ask ourselves that all important question.
What’s gone well?
Whatever your menopause, or midlife challenges, seeking out progress and forward momentum, no matter how small, can be at the heart of transformation.
When we start with celebration, it’s so much easier to think positively about creation going forward too.
While you try and find a moment of cool in this heatwave I’ve got some questions I’d love you to ask yourself.
What can you celebrate from the year to date? What is blooming?
What intentions and aspirations do you want to bear fruit in the season to come, or by the end of the year?
Where do you need support, accountability, and inspiration to make this possible (bonus points if it makes it joyful!)?
This is the moment when the sun stands still before the slow and gentle shift towards the next season begins.
It’s a chance to review, reflect, and rediscover.
Stillness is probably the best way to deal with the heat. Slowing down. Drinking water. Reducing expectations
It’s also an excellent approach to menopause and midlife. Especially the reducing expectations piece.
What could you let go of? That’s another excellent question!
